WCRA moves to NHRA Rules for the 2026 Season

WCRA has migrated away from the IHRA rule set to the NHRA rules. IHRA has made a significant change to their rules, requiring a Certified Chassis label for any vehicle traveling faster than 6.50 seconds in the 1/8th mile. NHRA requires a Certified Chassis label for any vehicle traveling the 1/8th mile faster than 6.40 seconds. It is felt by WCRA that this will be less disruptive to the majority of our racers in the WCRA Super Pro class.

It is the responsibility of every racer to be aware of and adhere to these rules. Please see our Driver Info page and the current NHRA rules listed here.

Each driver gets to focus just on the vehicle they are driving, so please spend the time to understand what applies to your vehicle at the speed it’s capable of running before you arrive at the track.

Essential reading: General Regulations in Section 21, plus Section 5, ET Handicap Racing (5A for most drivers, 5C for motorcycles, and 5E for snowmobiles). For junior dragsters see General Regulations plus the safety rules in Section 4.

To help with the shift, here’s the latest version of our “main” tech checklist with the section and page numbers from the NHRA 2026 Rulebook (3/3/2023) for reference. We made the switch to NHRA quickly with less time than we would have liked for double-checking, so please let us know if you think there is a mistake.

Coming soon: An updated tech sheet for Bikes & Sleds and – new this year! – one just for Junior Dragsters.

Thanks for your patience and support, and we’ll see you soon!
